It's Your Turn

It’s your turn!   Yes, women do get a turn!

Women look after others all through their lives ... Yes, caring for one's spouse, children, grandchildren, aging parents, friends, and neighbours is  important,

BUT ...
Women fail to take care of themselves...2/3 of Canadian women are not physically active enough to gain health benefits.

Recent research reports: Women juggle duties at work and at home to meet the needs of others. They put their own health at risk because they leave no time  for themselves! Men are more single minded: at work they think mostly about work, and they are more able to put their health needs first. (Heart & Stroke Foundation, Press Release, October 2005)

Women want to get active, but women cannot 'just do it' (Kluge, 2002)

Women Need ...
Time away to think about their health and making a plan
Family to share household and caregiving responsibilites
Family to support and value her physical activity
To have flexible plans for physical activity
